HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA 2008 MADISON, WISCONSIN VISIT: JULY 19-24, 2008 |
|
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is an internationally acclaimed, immensely revered and beloved figure, whose lifetime mission has been to make this world a better place through his message of religious harmony, and the development of kindness and compassion.
To the Tibetans, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is not only the Spiritual and Temporal leader, but their heart and soul. The person of His Holiness is regarded as the life-line of Tibetan people's struggle for freedom and justice in these difficult times of Tibetan history. Thus his long life is directly related to the very survival of the Tibetan civilization.
Therefore, the Tibetan community in the Americas earnestly requested His Holiness to confer a special teaching and accept a long life prayer offering (Tenshug in Tibetan). His Holiness has very kindly granted our prayers; and it was determined that this special ceremony would be combined with the teaching program requested by Deer Park Buddhist Center. Therefore the tenshug and teaching of July 2008 will be jointly organized by NATA and Deer Park Buddhist Center. Tibetan texts and oral translation will be available in English, Chinese and Spanish.
The Tibetan community considers the tenshug a very special and rare opportunity for expressing their infinite sense of gratitude to His Holiness and for rededicating themselves to the cause of Tibet under his guidance. Please keep checking with your local Association and the His Holiness the Dalai Lama 2008 visit website for any teaching and tenshug related matters. |
